🏆 Jack Grabowski Honored with Larry Hetzel Volleyball Leadership Award - Congratulations to graduating senior Jack Grabowski on being named this year’s recipient of the Larry Hetzel Volleyball Leadership Award. This award honors leadership, character, and impact on the JCVB program, and Jack is very deserving of the recognition. We also shared a recent article about the award here, and you can read more about the award at https://kutcherfoundation.org/news/larry-hetzel-volleyball-leadership-award/.

💪 Summer Workouts Begin June 10th - We will be off the first week and a half of June as school wraps up, then we will begin our summer workout schedule starting Wednesday, June 10th. Workouts will run Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00-7:30 PM in the gym.
- On Wednesdays, we will also have an optional 5:15-6:00 PM session for the weight room, we'll go through a jump program and some light strength work.
- These workouts are voluntary, but they are a great chance to stay sharp, build strength, and keep improving during the offseason.

🏐 2026 Tryouts Save the Date: 8/12-8/14 - Our tryouts are scheduled to begin 8/12 at 3:30 PM. The following week we will begin regular practices on weekdays from 3:30-5:30 PM. Please try to plan vacations accordingly, and communicate any conflicts for the first weeks of tryouts and practices.

🏐 Club & Summer Volleyball Camp Opportunities - Some coaches provided me some info to pass along if you are looking for more volleyball opportunities:
- Yorktowne Boys Volleyball - Yorktowne Club Volleyball (out of York, PA) is hosting a couple of open gyms and some tryouts throughout July.
- Gwynedd Mercy Summer Camps - The coaches at Gwynedd Mercy University will be hosting a summer camp 7/27-7/29, which could be a good opportunity to build skills and learn about the college volleyball recruitment process.

📅 2026 Schedule - I have loaded the tentative schedule for the 2026 season into the JCVB iCalendar (link below). We are still in the process of adding scrimmages, and I will keep this calendar up to date with what information I have. Right now it includes all MIAA regular season games and our standard practice slots (several of which will get replaced by scrimmages).
- JV and Varsity share the same schedule — JV game times are typically 4:00, with varsity to follow.
- St. Paul’s is hopeful to field a JV team this year, so games vs. Friends would be the only varsity-only matchups right now.

😎 Summer Camp - July 13-17 - JC Volleyball summer camp will run July 13-17, with two sessions each day (a Beginner and an Intermediate).
- For middle schoolers and rising freshmen, this is a great chance to learn some volleyball fundamentals and prepare for joining your high school teams.
- Last call for volunteers! For current JC players, this is a great opportunity to volunteer, earn service hours, and enhance your own mastery of volleyball by coaching and teaching others.
- All paperwork for volunteers needs to be submitted a full month in advance of camp, so the earlier we get rolling with the administrative stuff for volunteering the better. Email me at tkutcher@johncarroll.org to indicate your interest in volunteering and I can provide more details. If you have already emailed me, you should have received my email with instructions for forms.

🗞️ Newsletter Status - All newsletters can be found here. If you would like to be taken off the email list, please email me at tkutcher@johncarroll.org with the request — no offense will be taken. I’ll get an automated unsubscribe button on here soon. During the season there will typically be one weekly newsletter communication, with more of a monthly cadence in the offseason.
