John Carroll hosted Boys Latin in a B-Conference match that was far closer than the 3-0 line suggests, with all three sets decided late. The Patriots traded the lead through a first set that was level at 13, 16, 18 and 19 before Boys Latin edged it 25-23. Set two was the story of the night: down 6-18, John Carroll reeled off six straight behind a long service run, kept chipping, and drew all the way back to 24-24 before Boys Latin closed it 27-25. The Patriots dug in again in the third, with Julian Young entering as a serving specialist and ripping off seven straight points to pull John Carroll from 13-21 to 20-21. Tyler Olivi was outstanding in serve receive all evening, and the team competed for every ball across a hard-fought night. The two meet again at Boys Latin on October 16.

John Carroll's JV fell 2-0 to Boys Latin but played a very solid match throughout. Will McDonald was excellent at libero, coming up with a string of strong digs to keep the Patriots in long rallies.
